The gravity group at the University of New Brunswick consists of three faculty members: Viqar Husain, Sanjeev Seahra, and Edward Wilson-Ewing. Typically, the group also includes 1-2 postdoctoral researchers, 2-4 graduates students and 1-3 undergraduate student members. Our main areas of research are general relativity and its modifications, quantum gravity and cosmology. Group members have access to the ACEnet high performance computing facility. A list of past members and their subsequent positions can be found here.

Below, we give some general information about the various opportunities available to join the gravity group. Advertisments for specific positions can be found here.

graduate studies

Canadian citizens or permanent residents should consider applying for an NSERC postgraduate scholarship to be held at UNB. postdoctoral research

It is possible for well-qualified applicants to secure their own funding for postdoctoral research with the gravity group. The Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS) partially supports several postdocs each year through their PDF program (deadline mid-December for a September start). NSERC also has a postdoctoral fellowship program for Canadian citizens and permanent residents (deadline mid-December for a September start). If you are interested in applying for either of these fellowships (or some other external funding), please contact us.
